🪵 From the Workshop —
This past week has been a lot of learning from mistakes and what not to dos. Mostly, this has been on the tech side of things regarding the podcast hosting. Sometimes it’s better to leave well enough alone when things are working fine.
The summer continues to be its typical self with oppressive heat and humidity. Leading me further down the path of getting a mini-split installed. Of course, there’s a lot that I have to get done first before that point. One of the things I’m going to be doing is doing any work either in the morning or evening. I’ll have to have the garage door open just so there can be some ventilation. I’m really looking forward to the cooler months so that more work can get done.
🔧 Tool/Tip of the Week —
So, community.themakerdad.com is live. Not announced everywhere yet, but it's there.
Getting it set up took a lot more out of me than I expected. Picking a platform, figuring out what categories even make sense before anyone's shown up, deciding what to hide for now versus what to build out first. None of that stuff makes it into a launch post, but it's most of the actual work.
If you want the full behind-the-scenes on why I picked Invision Community and what I'm hoping this eventually turns into, I put it all in this week's episode.

📡 Tech for Makers —
I've been putting Riverside's mobile app through the wringer for the past three weeks, mostly for live streaming and recording, and I finally sat down and wrote up the whole experience.
Short version: recording is great, the text-based editor is legit good, but the lack of live chat visibility while streaming is a real problem for the kind of interactive build videos I want to do. I'm also stuck in a podcast hosting limbo with Apple Podcasts and YouTube that I'm hoping gets resolved by the end of the week. If it doesn't, I've already got a plan B.
Full breakdown, including my take on their AI tools, is up on the blog now. Worth a read if you've been considering Riverside or you're already using it and running into similar snags.

🎙️ Latest from the Podcast —
This week, I decided to put the podcast recap in the section above. Mostly, as right now, my experience with Riverside has been less than stellar.
The hosting of the episodes is still messed up, and right now, with the back and forth with their support team, nothing is being moved forward. The episode is available on the YouTube channel, but for the audio side, I’m not able to get it posted due to Riverside’s issues. I hope to get it taken care of quickly by moving the hosting away from them to a place that actually works.
